Dermal Rollering at our Stirling Clinic, this is also known as skin needling or collagen stimulation therapy. This treatment works on the concept of administration of controlled injury to stimulate production of our own collagen and elastin.
We use a small drum shaped instrument that rolls easily over the skin delivering many small punctures. The depth used depends on the condition of the skin and the severity of the area to be treated. Normal depth range would be between 0.3and 1mm. Dermal rollering can be used in conjunction with other skin products designed to target specific problem areas.
Dermal rollering is suitable for all skin types. It is used to treat tired and dull skin, lifting, toning and improving the texture of sagging skin. It is a great treatment for reducing acne scarring. Dermal rollering effectively reduces skin pigmentation and sun damage and helps to strengthen thin weak skin.
The treatment takes around 30 minutes to complete. For best results, a minimum of six consecutive sessions are recommended at fortnightly intervals. Before commencing this treatment, it is highly recommended that you prepare your skin. This can be done by using vitamin A, also known as retinol, and vitamin C products. These products help to speed up the healing process. It is also advisable to continue with these products after your final treatment. Always take advice from a qualified practitioner before commencing products containing vitamin A, to ensure you start on the correct strength and to avoid a reaction.
We recommend that you start with an initial course of six treatments with fortnightly intervals. Thereafter your Practitioner will review your skin on a three to four monthly interval and advise as part of a maintenance program.
There is minimal downtime with this treatment, normally 24-48 hours. Your skin will be red directly following treatment but within the 24-48hrs period before it returns to normal
A topical anaesthetic is applied before this treatment to ensure that the process is comfortable.
